[Contemporary Art & Design Series] – Evgeny Kiselev
Evgeny Kiselev is a Russian digital artist. He is famous for his colourful and complex work. His work is distinctive in a way that he combines shapes and colours in a psychedelic way.
His works were published in Computer arts (U.K.), IDN (Hong Kong), ROJO (Spain), IDpure (Swiss), Grafik magazine (U.K.), Beautiful Decay (U.S.A.), E-tapes (France) and many more. He worked for Microsoft Corporation, Nestea (Coca-Cola), Nike, Snikers, Miller, Philip Morris etc…
In an interview for FMCS, he answers the question:
Hi Evgeny please tell us a little bit about yourself, your past lives and how you came to be where you currently are today!
“It’s not first time when I answer this question, and it’s always difficult for me. Well, I’ll try again. I’m 25 years old, tall, blond guy I live and work in St Petersburg city, Russia.
The last two years I work as a freelance graphic designer and digital artist. Before that I wasted my time in an advertising agency working as art director. It was beautiful day when all that stuff made me think and I decided to lead myself into free flight.
Now I’m convinced it was the right way because the speed of professional growth is much higher than when you are imprisoned in any office. Finally I needn’t an alarm-clock.”
“The diverse work of Evgeny Kiselev oscillates between the rigors of symmetry and prolific excess. Several compositions begin with vivid tiled patterns that are mirrored again and again until they can no longer be contained and are forced to push beyond the confines of their logic. Others, emerge from a single outline that manifests the controlled lawlessness of the work. Each piece achieves a complexity of color and layer that continues to build infinitely into the space of the page creating a warping spatial depth”.
