Creative Focus: Alex Trochut’s Passion in Typography and Illustration

Alex Trochut is an independent designer and illustrator who lives and works in Barcelona. He is well-known across the world because of his excellence and creativity in illustration and typography. He is a grandson of the eminent Catalan typographer, Joan Trochut who created the Super-Veloz typography. He studied graphic design at the Escuela Elisava and went for a work placement in Moniteurs and Xplicit studios in Berlin, Germany.

His work has been highly appreciated all over the world and has been included in famous publications such as Beautiful/Decay, Computer Arts and The Guardian. He received the Certificate of Excellence in Typography from the Type Directors Club of New York in 2005.

He describes his own work as expression of two great passions – typography and illustration. His style is epressive and he is mostly interested in experimentation with new forms of writing and means of communication with text, working at times solely with formal beauty and pure aesthetic pleasure more than content. Have a look at some of his latest work below.
