Jesse Rosten – Creative, witty & talented
I bumped into Jesse’s Rosten work two years ago when I was browsing on vimeo for some new inspiration videos and I watched his “Fotoshop by Adobé” video. I immediately loved the video because of the amazing sense of humor and the way it was created. If you haven’t watched it is a commercial parody with the tagline “This commercial isn’t real, neither are society’s standards of beauty.” This is Rosten’s response to how the beauty industry plays with the society’s perception of beauty with the overuse of Photoshopping.
Not only this commercial was an absolute viral hit over the internet but also it started a conversation about the extensive use of retouching in the advertising industry.
Rosten is also known for his commercial work which was featured in Apple.com and some of his clients include Heineken, Time Inc., and National Parks Magazine. His work for Oregon Dental Assoc. won Best in Show at the 2013 Social Media (SoMe) awards.
He recently has created another humorous video called “Smarthone PSA” with the message”There’s always something new on the horizon. Sometimes that thing is a sign, literally. Please don’t be this guy. Put down your phone while walking.” This ironic commercial is about the people who are too focused on their lives over the Internet instead of experiencing the real “offline” live.
Here is a selection of some of his amazing work including his first film, ‘Cart,’ a story about a wayward shopping trolly which won top honors at the Sundial Film Festival in 2008.
